Droid sculptures start with wheel-thrown parts that have wheels and wheel assemblies added. Some get shaped by paddling with a piece of wood, some are left round, but an eye for individuality and personality is always in mind. Wheels and parts are extruded and shaped and then attached when the droid body is “leather hard”. The assembled Droids are then allowed to dry slowly under plastic. Glaze patterns are added after bisque firing and the pieces are fired a second time to set the glazes. Each Droid sculpture is a unique combination of body and parts, giving each its own unique personality.
